Registering & Scheduling Your State Examination

All Course Completion Certificates are valid for 2 years for satisfying the NYS prelicensing education requirement. That means you have two years in which to take and pass your New York State Insurance Licensing Examination without having to retake the pre-licensing course again.

Register for NY State Examination prior to taking your Pre-licensing course.

State Licensing Examination:

Candidates should Register Immediately with Thompson Prometric. Registration is valid for 90 days. Candidates may schedule state examination date during or after they register with Thomson Prometric.

1. Select:Licensing Information Bulletin for Exams after February 1, 2006. Print the first 10 pages of the Bulletin. If you do not have an internet connection and printer, request a mailed copy of the Bulletin. There is important information in the bulleting you need to know. Bring this Bulletin to class.
2. Select:Exam Content Outlines for Exams after February 1, 2006. Print out the content outline and bring this to class. Know what information you will be tested on.

Fees: $63 Payable with MasterCard or VISA. Cash and Personal checks not accepted.

We suggest you Schedule your examination date for the first Saturday after completing your prelicensing course. We always try to schedule a Review Class on a Friday immediately following the completion of a prelicensing course.

Friday Review classes are scheduled in our Manhattan school located in the EmpireStateBuilding, 305 5th Avenue, Suite 1106 between 33rd and 34th Streets. We try to hold 2 LAH and 2 PC Review Classes each month.

Read RESCHEDULING YOUR APPOINTMENT on page 6 of your NY Licensing Information Bulletin. To avoid a $40 rescheduling fee, you must contact Thomson Prometric at least THREE FULL BUSINESS DAYS before the day of your scheduled appointment.

You MUST bring your course completion certificate with you to the State Examination.

Note: There is a $7 fee to be charged if you like CIC to register you for your State Examination.
