What are REEDC’s office hours?

75-Hr Real Estate Salesperson Course:

What is the difference between a Real Estate Salesperson and a Broker?

A Real Estate Salesperson works directly for the representative broker, and is responsible for assisting buyers and sellers. All listings are placed in the broker’s name, even those negotiated by the salesperson himself. A Real Estate Broker supervises the real estate brokerage firm, and is entitled to more rights than Salespeople are, such as rights to do appraisals, manage other real estate professionals, and own and operate real estate firms.

When are Real Estate Salesperson classes offered?

Our Real Estate Salesperson courses are extremely flexible! They are offered Monday through Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. Times range from 9:00a.m-6:00p.m with a duration of approximately 3-4 hours.

How much does the course cost?

There are three different packages for our Real Estate Salesperson course, and descriptions and prices are as follows:

Silver Package: $425.00. The package includes a 75-hour pre-licensure course, REEDC school exam, job placement assistance, and expert training by experienced industry professionals.

Gold Package: $495.00. This package includes a 75-hour pre-licensure course, FREE $50.00 text book, REEDC school exam, job placement assistance, expert training by experienced industry professionals, FREE study guide “Cram for the Exam”, plus a 1-hour coaching session in Sales Skills Development.

Platinum Package: $550. This package includes a 75-hour pre-licensure course, FREE $50.00 text book, REEDC school exam, job placement assistance, expert training by experienced industry professionals, FREE study guide “Cram for the Exam”, a 2-hour coaching session in Sales Skills Development, plus a quarterly career assessment review.

How long does it take to complete the course?

It takes a total of 75 hours to complete the Real Estate Salesperson Licensing course, and our flexible scheduling allows you to finish the course in as little as 2 weeks!

How long does each class last?

Each class lasts approximately 3-4 hours.

Is this course offered in any other languages?

Our Queens campus offers the Real Estate Salesperson course in Chinese, which runs Thursday and Friday from 6:00p.m to 10:00p.m. 

How old must I be to take the Real Estate Salesperson test to become licensed?

All students must be at least 18 years of age to take the Real Estate Salesperson test.

If I have a felony, can I take the course?

If you have a felony or are convicted of a particular crime, you would need to obtain an executive pardon from either the parole board or the sentencing judge before being eligible to attend the Real Estate Salesperson course.

After fulfilling the 75-hour sales class requirement, what happens next?

Upon completion of the Real Estate Salesperson course, you must take our school exam, which is offered every Friday at 10:00a.m. You must receive a 65% or higher in order to receive your certificate of course completion. After that, you are eligible to apply for the NY Department of State licensing exam.

What are the requirements to become a Real Estate Salesperson?

In order to obtain a Real Estate Broker license you must complete the 75-Hour Salesperson Qualifying Course, and pass the qualifying examination administered by the Department of State.

Any applicant who completed the 45-hour salesperson qualifying course prior to July 1, 2008, must also complete the 30-Hour Remedial Course in order to qualify for Broker Licensure.

What is the career outlook for a Real Estate Salesperson?

In May 2010, the median annual wage of real estate agents was $40,030. Employment of real estate brokers and sales agents is expected to grow 11% from 2010 to 2020.

Applicants are required to schedule their Real Estate Salesperson Exam through the Department of State’s Occupational Licensing Management System—eAccessNY. To schedule your examination, you must first have created account on eAccessNY, by visiting the eAccessNY overview page and clicking on "Create my Account".

You must bring with you a government issued photo-ID— driver’s license, passport, US certificate, etc.

What are Continuing Education classes?

The New York Department of State requires licensees (both salespersons and brokers) to successfully complete 22.5 hours of approved real estate continuing education within their two year license term in order to renew their licenses.

Can I take both online and in-class courses to fulfill my 75 hours?

No. You cannot mix and match online and class sessions. Students must choose to one form of attendance to complete their 75 hours—online or in-class.
