Appraisal Assistant

Introduction

To become an Appraiser, you must start as an Assistant Appraiser working directly under the supervision of a Licensed New York Appraiser to assist with the property valuation process. This apprenticeship-type program lets you start your classroom training while working for a Licensed Appraiser.

Becoming an Appraiser Assistant is the initial step toward your career in Appraisal. Once completed, additional professional and financial growth are right around the corner.

The Job New York Real Estate Appraisal Assistant

To ensure a fair property assessment, Appraisers are brought in to accurately estimate the value that real estate properties would sell under the current market.

As an Appraisal Assistant you will assist with property inspections while considering comparable property sales, location and other factors to determine market value and building replacement costs. You will be responsible for gathering and analyzing data, and arriving at an opinion. Once you have completed your 2,000 hours of apprenticeship, passed our test, and the New York State Appraisal exam, you are eligible to become a Licensed Appraiser where higher earning potential awaits.

Requirements

Training provided by the Appraiser, perhaps offering to work for free or a nominal amount until you become proficient, is a way to secure a continuing position.
