RESIDENTIAL FACILITIES MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

BASIC BUILDING SYSTEMS (30 HRS)

This 30-hour course is an introduction to the topics related to the management and maintenance of basic building systems. The student will review the basics of maintaining residenttial and small commercial facilities with topics such as plumbing, electricity and wiring, air conditioner, heating, lighting, and the building envelope. More advanced aspects of building systems will be covered as well as boilers, fire safety, elevators, steam systems, etc. This course will focus on fundamentals, maintenance, and repair.

PROPERTY MANAGEMENT (30 HRS)

Property management requires not only solid knowledge of all aspects of building systems and maintenance, but practical knowledge to oversee and ensure the future financial stability and viability of the property. Property Management will cover topics to be successful in the professional multihousing management field. This includes the responsibilites and characteristics of a successful property management, multihousing management planning, economics and finances of multihousing management, marketing, risk management and more. Property Management will also cover regulations and laws that are specific to the City of New York such as the Fire Prevention Code, the New York State Multiple Dwelling Law, and the Housing Maintenance Code.

FACILITIES MANAGEMENT (30 HRS)

Facilities managers must anticipate problems which requires knowledge of all aspects of preventive and predictive maintenance. Concepts such as Contracting; Managing Construction, Health and Safety, Budgeting and Financial Management; and Capital Project Planning Estimating work scheduling, staff management, budgeting, estimating of various renovation work as well as NYC Building Code, Zoning Regulations and Local Laws will be covered in this course.
