LEAD PAINT CERTIFICATION COURSE (10 hrs CE)
This is a 10-hour course in understanding of Local
Law 1 of 2004 and the proper procedures to reduce
the risk associated with Lead-based paint while performing
routine maintenance and repair tasks. Upon successful
completion students will be issued an OSHA certification
card. This course is offered in 5-hour classes on
2 weekends. Taught by Jim Kelly.
The course includes the following:
1. Definitions used
in Chapter 11 of Title 28 of the Rules of New York
City.
2. Owner’s responsibility to remediate.
3. Notice inquiring about the residency of a child
of applicable age upon signing of a lease.
4. Investigation for Lead-based paint hazards records
of inspection and turnover of units.
5. Safe work practices, filing procedures, licensing
and training, record keeping and work methods.
6. Occupant protection and work that disturbs lead
based paint.
7. Presumption of lead based paint. Exemption from
presumption and conditions. Exemption from presumption
and application.
8. Certification of correction of Lead-based paint
hazard violation.
9. Postponements and granting of postponements.
10. Audit and inspection by the Department of Health.
Audit and inspection and enforcement actions.
11. Dwelling units in cooperative housing corporations
and condominiums. Appendix A. Lease/Commencement of
occupancy notice for prevention of lead paint hazard.
Appendix B. Annual notice for prevention of lead based
paint hazards.
