This recommendation is for Garry, one of the Property and Casualty Insurance Broker Pre-Licensing course instructors. He kept class interesting and fun and almost my whole class passed the exam the first time. He really seemed to care about his students and their comprehension of the material as opposed to just drilling the correct answers into us.

At the time of writing this, I am about 75% done with my classes at REEDC and I am having such a great time that I felt compelled to write a review.
The instructor is very knowledgeable, funny and engaging. When you are there, you genuinely follow the material because it is taught so well.

I have just finished my course and exam here. I cannot say enough about this wonderful place! There is a great concern and devotion on the part of everyone there that your experience is positive and you are happy with your learning. Most impressive was the incredible effort put towards job placement, recruiting, and real world networking.

The Property Casualty Insurance course was taught by Garry Smalley, a great instructor who engaged the class and made the whole experience worthwhile. Believe it or not, I remember laughing a few times in the class from some of the stories. I just got my license today! Passed on my first try, the course was more then enough if you are willing to study 1-2 hours a few nights a week

Just finished two weeks of classes, and I couldn’t be more pleased. The teacher, Greg is very impressive, having been in the field, and is a wealth of knowledge. He always has time to answer my many questions. I live in Brooklyn, and work in Manhattan, and if I don’t feel like coming into NY on weekends, I can go to their Brooklyn office, which works out well for me.

Not everyone has to take the full course. If you’re a New York attorney-at-law in good standing, you may be exempt from both the pre-licensing course and the title insurance agent exam — you’ll just need to submit a certificate of good standing with your application. Anyone else entering the field has to complete the 20-hour course and pass the state exam before applying to the Department of Financial Services.
A title insurance agent examines the history of a property’s title and issues policies that protect buyers and lenders against defects, liens, or ownership disputes. Before a sale closes, the agent conducts a title search, resolves any issues that surface, and issues the owner’s or lender’s policy that makes the transaction safe to complete.
No degree or prior experience is required. You’ll complete the 20-hour pre-licensing course and pass the New York title insurance agent exam to qualify. If you’re already a New York attorney in good standing, you may be exempt from both the course and the exam.
The course is 20 hours, the amount New York requires for a title insurance agent license, delivered live over Zoom. Because it’s a single-line license, it’s one of the shorter insurance pre-licensing courses, so you can complete it and move toward your exam relatively quickly.
After passing, you submit your license application to the New York State Department of Financial Services with the required fees. To activate your license, a title insurance company files a company appointment on your behalf within 15 days of your agency contract.
Absolutely. Title insurance sits right at the closing table, so the credential pairs naturally with careers in real estate, mortgage, or law. Many people add it to expand the services they offer, and New York attorneys in good standing can often qualify without taking the course or exam.
