Instructor Tom Mcgovern

Specializes in:
Energy Auditing Course

Tom McGovern is a licensed professional engineer, who has a PHD in law and is fully LEED certified. He has over ten years experience teaching a range of subjects, including green buildings, engineering and test preparation. He is also a regional authority on commercial building energy savings.

As Founder of “Geatain Engineering”, Tom developed a unique system to align building use to energy saving measures and developed several proprietary ventilation practices. People spend hundreds of dollars every year tuning up their cars, yet building owners needlessly spend hundreds of thousands of dollars each year on energy, when simple tune-ups could save significant costs. His company offers an approach to savings where all building components are appraised. Tom is also responsible for developing a real estate manager platform to track energy savings across property portfolios, serving clients with several dozen, or several hundred, properties.

Notable Accomplishment

Recently, Tom spoke on the national “Green Leader” radio show where he highlighted regulatory trends and technological advances.
Tom published an article in Real Estate Weekly, “Five Things To Look For In An Energy Audit.” He is a Task Force member for the largest industrial trade association in America.
Tom presented at two annual environmental conferences where he discussed multimillion-dollar construction projects. He also helped structure a building retrofit pilot TV program for the Live Open House television network.
