NYC Insurance Licensing Courses
A Life, Accident and Health insurance agent or broker is a licensed professional who helps their clients have peace of mind when it comes to protecting their financial and personal assets. In exchange for a monthly premium, clients are provided a sense of protection against this risk. The three insurance types in this category all deal with the risks associated with health, accidents and longevity. They are all important details in the overall financial planning that clients and their families need to consider in order to make informed and effective decisions.
Life, Accident and Health insurance are critical components for guarding against financial uncertainties and planning for management of estate and retirement.
Life insurance provides protection and/or investment policies that promises to pay a designated beneficiary an agreed upon amount of money upon the death or other serious life event (i.e. terminal sickness) of the insured person. These policies are legally binding contracts between the insurance company and policyholder that detail the limitations/scope of insured events.
Accident insurance is a little more straightforward and helps clients handle the medical and out-of-pocket expenses that can add up after an accident. Generally these would cover health expenses related to this loss (i.e., emergency treatment, hospital stays, exams, deductibles, etc.), but can vary depending on the policies of the individual insurance company.
Finally, Health insurance provides insurance against incurring medical expenses and supplies with “coverage that provides for the payments of benefits as a result of sickness or injury. Includes insurance for losses from accident, medical expense, disability, or accidental death and dismemberment.” In New York, Health Insurance Agents must be certified to sell the Affordable Care Act (ACA), otherwise known as “Obamacare.”
